## Made for Backblaze B2

- **Versions by default**: B2 keeps every version. BucketMate shows versions, recovers deleted files, and cleans up old ones.
- **Scoped keys**: Application keys can be limited to one bucket or prefix. Turn off Load all buckets and type the bucket name.
- **Free CDN egress**: Downloads through Cloudflare, Fastly, or bunny.net are free. Use BucketMate for the files, your CDN for serving.

## Common errors

- `InvalidAccessKeyId`: The master application key was used. It does not work with the S3 API. Fix: Create a regular application key with access to the bucket.
- `NoSuchBucket`: The endpoint region doesn't match your account's region. Fix: Copy the S3 endpoint shown with the bucket or key.
- `AccessDenied`: The key is limited to another bucket or prefix. Fix: Use a key that covers the bucket, or browse inside its prefix.

## Connect in BucketMate

A Backblaze application key ID and application key.

1. Create an application key in the Backblaze dashboard. Not the master key.
2. In BucketMate, choose Add connection and select Backblaze B2.
3. Enter the bucket's S3 endpoint, key ID, application key, and region, then Test Connection.

On iPhone, pick Custom S3-compatible and set a custom region such as us-west-004.

## S3 compatibility notes

- **No object tags**: B2 ignores tagging and supports only private and public-read ACLs.
- **Hidden still counts**: Hidden file versions still count toward storage until deleted.
- **No browser POST uploads**: Use presigned PUT or multipart instead.

### How much does Backblaze B2 cost?

$6.95 per TB per month since May 2026, with the first 10 GB free. Egress is free up to 3x your stored data, and Class A, B, and C API calls are free.

### Why does my B2 key give InvalidAccessKeyId?

The master application key does not work with the S3 API. Create a regular application key instead.

### Can I upload files over 500 MB to B2?

Not in the B2 web UI. BucketMate uploads large files in parts through the S3 API.

### Can I rename files in Backblaze B2?

The B2 web UI has no rename. BucketMate renames files and folders and moves them with drag and drop.

### Why can't I see my buckets?

Keys limited to one bucket cannot list buckets. Turn off Load all buckets and add it by name.
